No New Posts The Maiden's Oasis

Though other oases are scattered throughout the desert, one in particular has always been a place of intrigue to the equines of Valsaine. The Maiden's Oasis, called 'Ellya's Pool' by some, can only be seen at night if you don't know where to find it. During the day, the water is the muddy color of sand, and invisible to any looking across the desert. However, at night Ellya shines brightly upon its surface, acting almost as a beacon to those traveling in the dark. No vegetation grows around this particular oasis.

No New Posts White Dunes

While most of the sand in the desert is golden-brown, there is one northern stretch of dunes that is nearly white in coloring, supposedly because it was formed from limestone. It creates a nearly blinding glare in the sunlight, giving it the nickname 'shining' dunes, as the glow can be seen for nearly a mile. There is a small, grassy-rimmed oasis at the base of these particular dunes.

No New Posts The Rippling Sands

Making up most of the territory is a rolling desert, broken apart by oases surrounded by tall trees and lush grasses. As the dunes are constantly shifting due to the wind, the center of the desert is often called the 'rippling sands.' Sometimes even the oases shift positions, and it can take the inhabitants awhile to find them if they haven't been to that oasis in awhile.

Board Description
Southern Desert
Just as the Northern Mountains seem eternally cold, the desert is constantly warm. The only species built for such a warm climate are the small, hardy Veili horses. Though the heat of the desert is treacherous, The Old Ones made sure that no equine would be more than a day's travel from water. The desert is a mass of rolling dunes, and the only shelters available for the residents are large rocks erected upon the landscape and the trees that grows around the oases.

Herd led by the mare Cyrah Nasreen.
