I see you have found yourself in the strange and wonderful world of Caecus Fatum. Do not be alarmed; while there are many dangers here, there are also places of unfathomable beauty and intrigue. Do you wish to take your first steps onto the soil of Valsaine? Beware, there are laws that you must abide by. The land has a way of taking care of those who break what was set down by The Old Ones...
OUT OF CHARACTER- Respect the staff. They know the site, as well as what is and isn't allowed. If you have any questions, please contact any staff member (our names are in white).
- Respect your fellow members. We are all here to have a good time. Let's not foul it up by insults and disrespect. Everyone has their own opinions. If you find that you simply cannot agree on something, change the subject.
- Swearing is allowed in moderation. However, we may have some younger members, so be conscious of them.
I cannot be responsible for the discussions that happen late at night in the cbox.
- Only one character per account. Which means, you must have an account for each of your characters. You may have as many characters as you want.
- Do not be close-minded. Hateful comments will be deleted, and staff will give you a warning. If it continues, you will be banned. This includes negative comments about race, sexuality, religion, etc.
- The username of your account must be the full name of that character. It makes it look nice.
- Use all forms provided. Don't switch things around, or add anything of your own. That's what the trackers are for. If you want to add extra information, do it there.
- Caecus Fatum is rated PG-13. And I quote Lexx: "If this site were an item you could purchase from a store, it would sure as hell have a "Parental Guidance" sticker on it. Our rating is PG-13. We do not tolerate anything terribly graphic, but there will be bloodlust, gore, some sexual themes and bad language. If your virgin eyes can't handle the awesome, we suggest you get out of here now; if you're an immature thirteen-year-old who does nothing but complain about the current roleplay threads, we will ban you. The admins are not responsible for your maturity level."
- Advertisements are only allowed in the advertisement area. Ads found elsewhere will be deleted. Members who post ads anywhere else will receive a warning.
IN CHARACTER- The word count minimum is 250 words. This shouldn't be hard. If you have trouble with this count on a good day, then this may not be the site for you.
- Watch your grammar and spelling. There is a spell check button down there, if you don't have a browser that does it automatically. Take advantage of it. On the same note, try and use good grammar. No one's perfect, and mistakes get made, but it shouldn't be so bad it can't be read.
- Your character must be accepted by a staff member. If it hasn't been accepted yet, you may not post anywhere with that character.
- Your character must be one of our three unique species.
- Characters MAY NOT be created as hybrids. The species are allowed to interbreed, and hybrids will at that point happen, but your horse must me purebred if it was not born on the site. This is due to the previous feuding between the species.
- Characters must be from Valsaine. There is no known land beyond Valsaine. If someone swims off, they never come back, and no one comes from outside. Likewise, there can be no humans in your character's history. They don't exist here.
- Make sure your posts are readable. Don't use colors that are hard to see against the skin. You may use posting tables, but they follow the same rules.
- Posts may be in first or third person.
- Do not abuse the powers. Each power has its own limits. Stay within those limits. If you have questions about what is or isn't realistic for a power, ask a staff member.
- No powerplaying or godmodding. The only time this would be okay is if you already have something worked out with the other roleplayer.
CLAIMING- Herd leaders can be challenged. This is not species-based, either. Any species may challenge for any herd. If your horse wants to make a challenge, please PM a staff member. These challenges will last for three posts each per horse, creating a thread six posts long between the two. Make sure you get some fighting in before it ends (either physical or verbal) and the admin has the final decision which horse will take the lead position. If one lead goes down, so does the other in the case one stallion challenges for a herd led by a pair.
- No one can 'force' a mare to join their herd. Unless it's agreed upon by both parties, if a member wants their character to remain a loner, they cannot be forced to join up.
BREEDING AND FOALS- The horses reach sexual maturity at three years of age. No breeding can happen before they are three.
- Graphic breeding is absolutely prohibited. This will be strictly enforced. You may either roleplay the breeding thread and fade to black, or not roleplay the breeding and just have an agreement between both roleplayers. However, the characters must have at least one thread between them.
- Foal stats will be decided via dice role. Just make sure you post in the foal stats board and fill out the appropriate form.
- In Valsaine, having a horse has the possibility of carrying the twin gene. Normally, there is only a 5% chance of twins. However, some horses carry the twin gene, which gives them a 75% chance of having twins. Upon creation, your horse has a 10% chance of having the gene, which the staff member who accepts the bio will post. If they don't get it, you still have the option of buying it from the store. It is a dominant gene, and works the same if one or both parents have it.
- The horses can breed during any season. However, be aware that a foal born during winter is less likely to survive than one born in the spring.
- As mentioned before, the species may interbreed.
- 'Force' breeding, or rape, is allowed if it's agreed upon between both roleplayers. Again, this cannot be graphic in any way. Fade to black.
- Foals will be born three real weeks after they are conceived.
- Foals are like human children. They will not come out of the womb ready to talk full sentences and think complicated thoughts. They age the same as any other horse.
TIME- Three real weeks is one season.
- Liquid time is allowed. Your character may be in multiple threads at once. Just make sure you can keep up with the threads you're in.
- The oldest a horse in Valsaine can live to thirty years. This is a maximum. Few actually make it to this age.

FAQ
I have this character. Which species would it fit into? Because we have unique species with specific physical characteristics, not every character design will be able to fit into one of our species. You can either tweak their design to fit or save up for the color change.
What's the best way to get Coins? Excepting special events, you get 5 Coins for posting and 5 Coins per advertisement if you advertise. You can find the guidelines for that here.
Do I automatically get powers? No. Again, excepting special events and/or a service rendered to the site, all powers must be bought. This means you can either advertise to get Coins so your character can have a power upon creation or you can create a character and buy powers for it later.
I want my stallion to lead a herd! Unlike many horse roleplays, we do not have numerous herd-leading positions. The site it about your characters interacting with many others, not having 15 different herd with only two members to them. If we get a good number of characters, I may open a sub-herd option, in which a stallion/mare can run a herd within one of the three main herds, or a mini-band option, where there can be small herds based in the neutral lands. But don't join the site simply because you want your character to run a herd! There will be other ways to become important, I promise.
Why is the twin gene so expensive? It's supposed to be considered rare. Everyone has a 10% chance of their character having it when you create them. Also, it carries down through the bloodline, so you'd never have to buy it again for that character or their offspring.
More may be added later.
